MICHAEL

Michael Brooding is a thirty year old male who suffers from psychotic episodes, which lead him to experience macabre hallucinations, amongst them is the belief that a plastic, ornamental gargoyle hanging over his study bookcase, lives.

Consequently, Michael regularly talks to the gargoyle and imagines it talking back. It serves the purpose of soothing his anxiety by filling the void of a professional, therapeutic counsellor which he is reluctant to visit due to his delusional faith in the gargoyle.

In other words, Michael uses the gargoyle's persona (a hallucination) to analyse and receive feedback on his other hallucinations; anything from a flesh eating witch, a river dwelling siren, a tuxedo wearing devil, Medusa the Gorgon and other strange mythological figures.

Michael's sense of paranoia sees him continuously cast aspersions on the devil, insisting that Satan is insidiously plotting to obtain his soul.

A ghastly middle aged dwarf, a regular at the Southgate shopping complex, is another target on Michael's blame list.

Abusing Prozac to subdue a chronic depression dependency, preaching atheism to satisfy an over indulgent diet on cynicism and enjoying leisurely strolls while reading the tombstones at the Cheltenham cemetery are a few of Michael's favourite things.

A tenuous grip on reality shapes Michael's contorted views, supplying a stream of twisted ideas for some of his crazy schemes.
